“ I wish I found some better sounds no one’s ever heard/ I wish I had a better voice to sing some better words,” Joseph sings, describing the insecurity accompanying any artist’s talents, an atmospheric, down-tempo beat behind him. The latter cut eulogizes youthful idealism and naiveté metamorphosing into adulthood’s cynicism. In the chorus proper, Joseph sings a desperate plea for someone to save his heavy, dirty soul, above an undercurrent of scattered percussion and surging energy. The record starts strong with its four best songs, in particular the opening one-two punch of “Heavydirtysoul” and “Stressed Out.” The former is a rousing number, kicking off with a barrage of industrial drumming under Joseph’s spitfire rapping before a throbbing unease bubbles up in the pre-chorus. It’s frustrating, then, that the band’s grand designs run away from them and render the album a largely inconsistent jumble. Grandiose in scale, instrumentation, influences and lyrical subject matter, it’s a showcase for Joseph and Dun’s fearless approach. Such is the case with the duo’s fourth LP, Blurryface. The downside of such ambition is it can also run rampant, breaking from the tethers that could rein in some overindulgences. That their prodigious collage of sound comes from but two men, rapper/singer/multi-instrumentalist Tyler Joseph and drummer Josh Dun, is all the more impressive. Their self-offered description “schizoid pop” is as entirely suiting. The Columbus, Ohio, group produces a distinctive brand of experimental pop merging poetry, radio-ready melodies, rock rage, hip hop swagger and danceable digitized beats. You have to hand it to Twenty One Pilots, if for nothing else than their ambition. This is a note taker not a dictaphone so you are not able to rewind/review your audio just simply record and stop, although you can pause during recordings. The 660 records in MP3 format and like all recorders has multiple recording modes (tip: always use the highest quality recording mode, SHQ on the DVT 660). Not much to say about the Philips DVT 660, a great little recorder, perfect for single speaker audio. At that price it certainly makes you sit up and pay attention, after all the package contains Dragon NaturallySpeaking v10 and a very competent Philips Digital VoiceTracer 660. Released mid 2009 in Australia in a joint venture between Philips Dictation and Nuance was the Philips Dragon NaturallySpeaking Voice Recorder Edition ( LFH0660/10) at an incredibly cheap price of RRP AU$259.00 incl. The below review is still relevant, the software is setup and trained the same way with the new pack. The Dragon NaturallySpeaking DVR (Digital Voice Recorder) Edition now contains the LFH0612 Philips digital voice tracer. The software is the same, the recorder included in the pack is different. # UPDATE 2011 # This review was initially for the LFH0660/10 – this has been replaced in Australia in 2010 by the new model LFH0617/00. Have a read if you are considering buying the Dragon Voice Recorder Edition. # UPDATE 2012 # Should you buy the Dragon NaturallySpeaking DVR Edition? Blog looks at the functionality of DVR compared to other Dragon NaturallySpeaking versions. Pipes that come into the slab from the wall have an angle of 90 degrees, while those that enter from the floor have an angle of 45 degrees. You should make sure to pay attention to the connecting lines’ angles. Pay attention to the connecting lines in order to accurately read the plumbing diagram. The connecting lines may be different thicknesses and styles, with the thicker lines indicating larger pipes. The line shows the route of the pipe while the arrow indicates the direction of flow. Connecting lines are made up of two parts: a line and an arrow. These lines show you how the pipes and fittings are connected and arranged. When looking at a plumbing rough-in slab diagram, it’s important to understand the connecting lines. With a little practice, you’ll be able to read and interpret plumbing rough-in slab diagrams with ease. Don’t hesitate to use a ruler to double-check any distances or measurements that may seem unclear. Understanding what each symbol and line on a plumbing rough-in slab diagram indicates is key to successful installation. Pay attention to any notes or labels on the diagram, as these often contain important information about measurements or special instructions for installation. This means that the uppermost components should be installed first, and then the components below should be installed in descending order. Keep in mind that plumbing rough-in diagrams are designed to be read from the top down. These lines depict the distance between the installed plumbing fixtures and indicate the measurements of the pipes and fittings. You’ll notice straight lines connecting the components, usually with a dimension attached. It’s helpful to familiarize yourself with these symbols, as they are the building blocks for understanding the diagram. As you scan the diagram, you’ll notice various symbols that represent pipes, fittings, valves, drains, and other plumbing fixtures. When reading plumbing rough-in slab diagrams, it’s important to get a good look at all the main components. Knowing and understanding the symbols used will make it easier to read the diagram and give you a better idea of what needs to be done. Once you’ve identified all the symbols, you can connect the dots, or pipes and fittings, to get a clear picture of the overall layout. To help you understand the symbols, try focusing on each symbol as you read the diagram. Connecting lines between two symbols represent the connection between two components. Longer lines often represent longer pipes. Pipes are represented by a solid line, and fittings like elbows and tees by a dotted line. The main components are usually represented by either a letter or a number inside a square. When it comes to reading plumbing rough-in slab diagrams, understanding the symbols used is essential. “When I was in first grade, I’ll never forget when a kid, who was white, told me that I was stupid, and I said, ‘I’m not stupid, I know where I come from, I know my heritage,’” he said. McCready explained how stereotypes of Black people, like the images of Africans from If I Ran The Zoo, have affected him in his own life. “When a child learns to read, and those reading materials contain stereotypical images, and there isn’t an opportunity for them to actually interact with the people or groups they’re reading about, then that becomes how they see those people, ” McCready said in an interview with CBC Kids News. Lance McCready is an associate professor who specializes in social and cultural studies. Seuss uses, are harmful because people end up believing those stereotypes. He said that stereotypes, like the ones Dr. Lance McCready, an associate professor and director at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto, said these images are harmful because they draw on racist stereotypes.Īccording to McCready, a stereotype is a widely held, oversimplified and overgeneralized belief of a particular person, group or thing that is simply not true. Seuss Enterprises)Īnother example comes from a book called And to Think That I Saw It on Mulberry Street, in which a character is called a “Chinaman who eats with sticks,” with slits drawn for eyes. Seuss’s 1950 book If I Ran the Zoo (Image credit: Dr. Illustrations of African characters in Dr. In If I Ran the Zoo, for example, there are characters referred to as Africans who wear no clothes except for grass skirts and are drawn with ape-like features.

The collection and proper interpretation of this data can ultimately drive interventions that impact patients, their families, caregivers, as well as impact the healthcare ecosystem, with much needed emotional and cultural personalization in content and care. Rethinking our methods to become digital anthropologists, can generate unique insights regarding emotional, cognitive and behavioral factors that are often missed by traditional methods or clinical case data. The emergence of leading technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), and Natural Language Processing (NLP), can help us proactively mine open-source digital discussions of mental health patients to truly tap into their voice, needs and cultural nuances when no one is asking. While some claim that our reliance on social media and digital platforms can have a detrimental effect on mental health, ironically, its organic content may represent a rich source of patient and caregiver insights that can give us signals to proactively help patients with solutions personalized to their need and eventually save lives. That’s up from 62 percent of Internet users who said they went online to research health topics in 2001. In all, 80 percent of Internet users, or about 93 million Americans, have searched for health-related topics online, according to a study released by the Pew Internet & American Life Project. Every day millions of patients, family members, caregivers, community members or healthcare stakeholders volunteer their comments and/or questions online, representing a powerful source of open, candid and unsolicited information about people's true relationship to their condition and the often untold social and emotional factors that surround it. The internet represents one of the principal ways to receive and share information and ideas with over 4.1 billion active users on social media platforms, websites, and blogs every day.Ĭlearly, in this era of everything digital, online discussions represent one of the most valuable sources of unbiased insight with healthcare being a critical topic. Today more than ever, we need cultural intelligence in the research and insights gathered, medical education, patient interventions and family/ community engagement programs to make a difference that could potentially impact more lives. With a shift in population dynamics comes the need to shift how we tackle the mental health crisis America is facing today. Mental disorders are among the top most costly health conditions for adults 18 to 64 in the U.S., along with cancer and trauma-related disorders, according to APA. This compounding effect of population shift and lower utilization rates, ultimately has an impact on healthcare cost and economic factors for all. According to the American Psychiatry Association (APA), among adults with any mental illness, 48% of whites received mental health services, compared with 31% of blacks and Hispanics, and 22% of Asians. This shift in the population becomes increasingly concerning given people from racial/diverse groups are less likely to receive mental health care. This is particularly critical as today’s population in America is 40% diverse and it is set to become majority-minority by 2040. While millions of dollars are invested in public health campaigns and advertising, limited resources are allocated to carefully understand and identify cultural similarities and differences among diverse populations. Minimum efforts are dedicated to exploring and testing how individuals from each culture can be better persuaded to modify their lifestyles, prevent disease, or opportunely seek medical advice. It is common to see general population-oriented campaigns simply translated into other languages with the hope that they will contribute to reducing disparity. In addition to a more depressed and anxious population, the Psychology and Psychiatry associations have underlined a concerning 33% increase in the suicide rate between 1999 through 2017. adults are suffering from major depression, or about 7.9% Adult Non-Hispanic whites, 5.4% of African Americans, 5.4% of Hispanics and 4.4% of Asians. Simultaneously, more than 18 million U.S. Close to 1 in 4 women and 1 in 7 live with an anxiety condition that interferes with their daily activities, impacts their job or school performance and even affects their personal relationships. Thymidylate synthase genotypes for the 28-base promoter repeat were 2/2 (13%), 2/3 (74%), 3/3 (13%) all four responders had a 2/3 genotype.Ĭonclusions: Doses (mg/m 2) of CPT-11 140/24 hours, leucovorin 500/0.5 hours and 5-FU 3,120/48 hours were well tolerated. Patients with UDP-glucuronosyltransferase (UGT1A1 TA)6/6 promoter genotype had a lower ratio of free to glucuronide form of SN-38 than in patients with ≥1 (TA)7 allele. The end of infusion CPT-11 plasma concentration averaged 519 nmol/L at 140 mg/m 2/24 hours. The mean 5-FU plasma concentration was 5.1 μmol/L at 3,900 mg/m 2/48 hours. Four of 22 patients with colorectal cancer had partial responses, two of which had prior bolus CPT-11/5-FU.
